The Gallery is famous for innovative, ground breaking line-ups. This week is a prime example – welcoming the one, the only HENRY SAIZ. His sets encompass the good and great about electronic music, a delicate blend of emotional trance, techno and tech-house. A stalwart of the Global Underground series, a prolific producer. Each track is designed to tell a story, with Friday sure to be another historic chapter in the rise of Mr Saiz. JIMMY VAN M is a headliner in his own right, a pioneer of the underground sound. Jimmy is an expert at hand crafting his set, from dark beginnings to a peak time crescendo – as the lasers glisten on the captivated crowd. ROBERT BABICZ’s sound will be perfect for the evening, skilfully fusing different genres of electronica with dramatic lows and piercing highs. Hence a slightly different prospect, but efficiently taken care of by GAVYN MYTCHEL – with a welcome return to the box.

With his first ever release on labels such as Global Undergound, there is no doubting Saiz’s talents. After catching the esteemed ear of Mr Digweed, Henry signed to the Renaissance label – and from there worked his way into the scene’s elite. His performances are the epitome of perfection, mixing with pin point precision. Tune selection is also Henry’s forte, reading the crowd akin to someone with psychic powers. The Spanish DJ has a powerful weapon and uses it to maximum effect, a record box filled with his own killer productions. The latest release ‘They Come From The Light’ is quintessentially Saiz, unique and captivating. However the remix of Guy J’s ‘Lamur’ will always be hard to beat. A masterful rework, taking the original melody and giving it a whole new aura. The searching build up culminating in a thumping bassline, never fails to cause dancefloor havoc! With running label ‘Natura Sonoris’ and a hectic gig schedule, The Gallery is honoured that Henry Saiz is taking time out to show us his talents – rocking the Box as only he can.

We welcome a Belgian legend in the form of James Van Melleghem. A pioneer of the North American scene, he sees mixing as an art form – with a passion for all things music. As much at home, playing downtempo warm up sets to peak time finales. However it is an injustice to refer to them just as ‘sets.’ They are more musical masterpieces, all containing the innovative programming that earmark Jimmy as a global superstar. Complex, layered mixing link angelic riffs into subtle, dark basslines. Simultaneously combining elements from different tracks into one, harmonious sound – demonstrating sophistication and flair. The Ministry sound system is in for a real battering, as Jimmy Van M comes to town!

Robert Babicz comes from the old acid school of dance. Tweaking his sound as the scene has evolved, it now represents all things good about electronic music. A fusion between techno, minimal and classic house, the jacking bass that gave Babicz his name is ever present. With the recent release of album ‘Immortal Changes’ receiving widespread acclaim, it is described by DJ Mag as a “marriage of organic groove and glistening electronic melodies.” We cannot wait for Robert to come and show us how it’s done!

With the ‘103’ not to be outdone, JASON JOLLINS makes the trip from Stateside, a pioneer of the US progressive scene with his technical and ground breaking sets. Favourite STEVE LEE ensures that all The Gallery ingredients are fresh for a typical tear up, alongside London boy GREG STAINER, who is renowned for his displays of four deck wizardry. Last on the bill, an exclusive back to back set with TOBY ALLEN and LIZZIE CURIOUS, both with a jacking, energetic sound. Together, the ‘103’ will have its socks blown off! MISS CRAZY D rounds off proceedings, creating havoc wherever she plays…

Italy’s most famous export apart from Pizza, be upstanding for legend MAURO PICOTTO! Jetting in fresh from his ‘Space’ Ibiza sessions, Picotto’s sets are stuff of legends. Successfully undergoing the metamorphosis from trance to techno, expect a performance smattered with everything in between – as the CDJ’s are put through their paces. From big room anthems to dark underground epics, this will go down in Gallery history for sure. Do NOT miss this three hour spectacular! DANIEL PORTMAN is an able understudy, with progressive house beats intertwined with tech-house riffs. His productions and remixes are being snapped up by all top jocks, with the Swiss maestro causing a stir in clubland. With THE VICEROY not to be outdone, he makes it his business to send the crowd home, with a smile on their face!

Once known affectionately as the ‘Lizard Man,’ Picotto has now moved away from the genre which spurned anthems such as Iguana and Komodo. The original pioneer of mammoth sets, his six hour stints at Gatecrasher and the like are still fondly remembered by clubbers today. But whilst not forgetting his trance roots, a new style has emerged – encompassing all genres of electronica. But it isn’t just a case of moving with the times. Mauro quite simply plays the music he likes, a taste which has matured as time has passed. Now perfected, Picotto causes twice as much mayhem as before! Prog, tech and trance fused with an array of loops, kicks and trickery galore. There is no doubt it has proved a winning formula, with a series of rammed ‘Meganite’ events leading to Picotto’s new Ibiza project – ‘Come Together’ at Space. Artists are handpicked by Mauro who have his own attributes. Passion, talent and an ear for quality tunes. The new album ‘Mauro Picotto 2010’ is a perfect sign of what to expect. Chunky basslines that will not fail to get the Box rocking!

Daniel Portman’s music signifies that of someone, who had passion from a young age. From the old days of the Akai 2000 Sampler, his tunes are expertly engineered to always stimulate the mind and body. After a bevy of big releases such as ‘Elder’ on Anjunadeep, the latest ‘Baaly’ is the pick of the bunch! Classic violin chords accompanied with a driving chorus and thumping bass. Portman’s collaboration with Gallery favourite Jerome Isma-Ae, on the remix of ‘Salvation’ is a different affair. Signed to Armada, light and dreamy melodies go hand in hand with reverberating drums and piercing treble. This is ultimately the sign of a top producer, with the ability to dream up different compositions – ending in the same result. Dancefloor destruction! With massive gigs across the globe, Portman is soon to become a household name. It is a pleasure to give Daniel the Gallery stage for him to showcase his talents.

The Viceroy often gets overlooked by those unfamiliar with The Gallery. But for the pilgrims who pack the Box week in, week out – he is considered a bit of a hero. From promoting legendary night Vaccine to becoming resident, The Viceroy assumes a position of great privilege. Playing every week alongside the world’s top artists, it is a title that every DJ is envious of. But the young prodigy is making waves elsewhere apart from London. The Gallery tour sees him rocking parties all over the world, from Ministry of Sound to Moscow. The Viceroy’s closing sets have to be seen to be believed, as put in his own words – ‘excellence in the art of sound.’

Of course, ‘103 Gaunt St’ houses the ‘103,’ where Stefano Noferino continues the Italian theme. Founder of Deeperfect records, his productions combine a shower of eclectic beats with tribal influences. His ‘Club Edition’ radio show is fast developing a cult following, his sets are the epitome of excellence in the art of sound! GUY ALEXANDER continues the fun and games, along with supremo AARON COOK and the talent that is AIDEN HOWARD. RECEEDER rounds off proceedings with his forward thinking tune selection.
